Temporal bone beginner course (2-day event)

Mon 18 Jan 2027 - Tue 19 Jan 2027

Specialties

ENT / CERVICAL / FACIAL SURGERY

The Geneva Temporal Bone Beginner Course is tailored to the needs of young ORL surgeons beginning with temporal bone surgery or a specific interest in advanced simulator training tools in this context.

The training features simulation-based training on virtual and 3D-printed temporal bone models on day 1 followed by a real temporal bone surgery on day 2. The course is 98% hands-on, with minimal theoretical content to let participants focus on skills. The theoretical content needed is offered online before the course, to prepare ahead and to enjoy practical training at max during the course.

Directed by Prof. Pascal Senn, this training also welcomes a Danish ORL delegation headed by Prof. Mads Sorensen (from Copenhagen) who not only have developed the Visible Ear Simulator and a dedicated national course in Denmark, but also methods to objectively measure the learning effects and didactic outcome of simulation-based training. Other experienced otologists will be attending the course as faculty members.

  • Temporal bone anatomy
  • Basic surgical techniques in otology
  • Basics on simulation-based ear surgery training
